A sucuri snake, approximately six meters in length, was recorded leisurely moving near residents in a neighborhood of the tourist city of Bonito. Travel agent Gabriela de Brito Silva was the one who captured these impressive images. She told the UOL news website that the enormous snake was calm and simply continued on its way:

The sucuri was calm, showing no unusual movements the entire time,” she said. According to her, it wasn’t the first time the creature had been seen in the area. “It’s a neighborhood surrounded by a nature reserve and lakes; I felt very lucky to see an animal of this size living freely,” Gabriela said.

The sucuri, also known as the anaconda, is a semi-aquatic snake with its geographic distribution restricted to South America. They are opportunistic predators and, after feeding, can spend weeks digesting their prey. Some can reach up to 8 meters in length and weigh over 200 kilograms.
